Tragedy struck the renowned ski destination of Gulmarg on Thursday when an avalanche swept through the Kongdoori slopes, resulting in the death of one foreign skier, while another remains missing. Fortunately, five other skiers caught in the sudden snowslide were successfully rescued and are undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.

Officials reported that the deceased and missing skiers were foreigners who had ventured onto the slopes without local guides or companions. This raises concerns about safety protocols and the importance of adhering to recommended precautions, especially in avalanche-prone areas.

Teams from the Indian Army and a local administration patrol are currently engaged in a combined rescue and search operation to locate the missing skier. Their efforts are ongoing, and updates are expected.

The identities of the foreign nationals and the cause of the avalanche remain unknown at this time. Authorities are investigating the incident and will likely release more information in the coming hours.
