Awoman from Florida, United States, befriended a man in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) after playing PUBG with him. She decided to go to his village in the Etawah district. From there, the duo boarded a bus headed to Delhi and this was where her journey took a surprising turn.
A report by News9 on Saturday (June 15) said that Himanshu Yadav, 21, befriended 26-year-old Brooklyn Carneal while playing PUBG with her for the past few months. The report said that Carneal came to India three months back and had been staying with a friend in Chandigarh, and this was the time she came to know Yadav through the game.
The bus journey to Delhi
After visiting Yadav's village in Etawah, Carneal and the 21-year-old man boarded a bus headed to the national capital on Thursday. The News9 report said that a fellow passenger in the bus grew suspicious of the unlikely scenario of a local man with a foreigner and alerted a UP roadways official who then called the police.
The official told the police that Carneal was being taken somewhere by Yadav against her will. Upon arrival at the scene, the police took Carneal and Yadav to a police station for questioning that went on for 12 hours, the report added.
'Friend did not have ill intentions...'
During the questioning on Thursday, Carneal told the police that she was friends with Yadav, and was in Etawah with him three days ago and had been living with the man's relative. The Florida resident pointed out that Yadav did not have any ill intentions towards her.
The man gave a similar account to the police. Yadav said he got in touch with Carneal through PUBG, adding the two became friends over the past few months. The 21-year-old also said that he lived with his family in Faridabad.
Yadav said he was travelling to Delhi with Carneal from Etawah after spending some days in the village at his relative's house which the Florida woman wanted to see.
Following the questioning, the police determined that no wrongdoing occurred, the report added. On Thursday, Carneal was safely taken to Delhi while Yadav spent the night at the police station waiting for his parents to come from Faridabad. The man was let off a day later.
