Vladimir Putin has revealed that Russia fired an experimental intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time at a Ukrainian military site located in the city of Dnipro.
During an appearance on Russian television, the head of state argued that he had "the right" to target Western countries supplying military aid to Ukraine. He specifically referenced the United States and the United Kingdom, which recently authorized Ukraine to use their long-range missiles to destroy targets on Russian soil.
"Russia reserves the right to use weapons against targets in countries that permit their weapons to be used against Russian targets," he said.
According to U.S. and British sources, Moscow is believed to have ordered the launch of a medium-range intercontinental ballistic missile, with a range of approximately 5,500 kilometers—enough to strike European countries.
Following the airstrike, Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that Russia was using Ukraine as a "training ground."
The missile is reported to have been launched from the Astrakhan region, according to Ukraine’s Air Force, which also intercepted other missiles throughout the day.
