The influx of pilgrims showed no signs of abating as Prayagraj witnessed another massive traffic jam on Saturday with thousands rushing to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam ahead of the final week of Maha Kumbh. Three significant snans have been completed on Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Basant Panchmi, and the final snan will take place on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.
Visuals from the city showed massive traffic snarls at access points on all four directions, clogged intersections, and several route diversions. The roads leading to the Sangam witnessed huge congestion, leaving vehicles stranded on the roads.
Although the authorities in Prayagraj have been trying to ease the traffic issue to ensure that devotees travelling in cars and on foot do not face any issue in reaching the Sangam, but several areas in the city continued to grapple with the traffic snarls.
One such traffic jam happened on one of the road leading to the Sangam and the other on the road from the Prayagraj junction to Civil Lines area.
The traffic jam comes on the day when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP national president JP Nadda are set to visit the Maha Kumbh.
60 Crore Devotees Take Holy Dip At Sangam, Figures Likely To Cross 70 Cr
In another development, Prayagraj Maha Kumbh has set a new record in devotee count ahead of the last holy bath on February 26. So far, around 60 crore devotees have taken a holy dip at the Sangam during the Maha Kumbh. On February 14, the devotee count had already crossed 50 crore.

India TodaySince Saturday morning alone, over 70 lakh devotees participated in the sacred bath at the Sangam, following which the figures surpassed the 60 crore mark by afternoon.
In the previous Kumbh in 2019, the number of devotees who took a dip at the Triveni Sangam was 24 crore, a figure which has been doubled in the Maha Kumbh 2025.
With four days still remaining until the Maha Kumbh concludes, the number is expected to exceed 65 crore by February 26. It is also being anticipated that the total count could touch 70 crore due to the weekend rush and Maha Shivratri celebrations.
