On Friday, at Bharat Mandapam, PM Modi enumerated the merits of India's growing status in the third edition of What India Thinks Today (WITT) of the country's largest news network TV9. He explained how India is becoming a manufacturing hub.
India's achievement in the defense sector is historic. India once used to buy weapons from other countries, now it is creating history by increasing its defense exports by 21 times. Know to how many countries India is exporting weapons in the defense sector and what is it supplying to whom.
To how many countries is India providing weapons?
Currently, India is exporting weapons and defense sector equipment to more than 80 countries of the world. Many major countries including Russia, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Poland, Egypt, Israel, Spain and Chile are included in this. India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has talked to many countries to export the indigenous fighter aircraft Tejas. These include countries like Argentina, Philippines and Nigeria.
The weapons that India is exporting
India's defense export is not limited to Brahmos missile and artillery gun only. India is providing the world with everything from weapons to defense equipment. This includes Dornier-228 aircraft, lightweight torpedo, radar, armed vehicles, rocket, rocket launcher, fire control system, alarm monitoring and control system, and night vision monocular and bicular. India is also exporting many equipment including high frequency radio, coastal surveillance radar to the world in the defense sector.
Providing bullet proof jackets to 34 countries
The Home Ministry report states that India is exporting bullet proof jackets to 34 countries of the world like Japan, Israel, Australia and Brazil. India is supplying ammunition to 10 countries of the world including UAE, Indonesia, Egypt and Thailand. In the defense sector, America, Britain and France are buying defense electronics equipment from us. Mauritius is already buying interceptor boats.
When India made a record
In April last year, the figure of defense exports reached Rs 21 thousand crores. India had touched this figure for the first time in the defense sector. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed this and said that there was a 32 percent increase in defense exports in 2024 compared to last year.
India's manufacturing economy has gained strength, PM Modi said
PM Modi said from the platform of WITT, the world is looking at India as a manufacturing hub. Its examples are visible in every sector. In 2014, our export in mobile manufacturing was not even $1 billion. But in a decade, we have crossed the 20 billion dollar mark. Today India is becoming the power center of global telecom and networking.
He said, everyone is aware of the success of the automotive sector. India is creating a new identity by exporting components related to it. Earlier we used to import motorcycle parts in large numbers, but today parts made in India are reaching countries like UAE and Germany. The solar energy sector has also achieved new heights of success. The export of solar cells and solar modules has increased. It has increased 23 times. At the same time, defense export has increased 21 times. All these achievements show the strength of the country's manufacturing economy.
