Actor John Abraham is currently promoting his new film, The Diplomat, which hit the theatres on Friday, March 14. However, the actor recently met the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar ahead of the film’s release.
John took to his Instagram and shared a photo with S Jaishankar. Alongside the photo, the actor wrote in the caption, “Was a pleasure and honour to meet a man who I so intently follow, we discussed diplomacy, the North East and football amongst many other things.”
He added, “Truly an honour Sir! @drs.jaishankar @northeastunitedfc #thediplomat.” John and S Jaishankar met in New Delhi and discussed the latest film as well as other areas of common interest, such as football and India's Northeast region.
S Jaishankar also posted photos of their interaction on social media. In one of the photos, John was spotted gifting a jersey with number 9 to Dr Jaishankar. He wrote, “An interesting conversation with @TheJohnAbraham on his new movie The Diplomat, as well as on football, the Northeast, and our respective worlds.”
The latest film is based on true events and explores the courageous story of JP Singh, who rescued an Indian woman Uzma Ahmad from Pakistan in 2017. Uzma had traveled to Pakistan to marry a man she met in Malaysia, but was forced into marriage at gunpoint, tortured, and eventually sought help from the Indian High Commission, where JP Singh, then deputy high commissioner, played a pivotal role in her rescue.
The latest film is directed by Shivam Nair and is inspired by true events. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar (T-Series), Vipul D. Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl (Wakaoo Films), Sameer Dixit, Jatish Varma, and Rakesh Dang (Fortune Pictures/Seeta Films). In addition to starring, John has also produced the film.
