4 earthquakes jolt India, Myanmar, Tajikistan within an hour

Four earthquakes struck parts of India, Myanmar, and Tajikistan in quick succession on Sunday morning, shaking regions across South and Central Asia. All four tremors occurred within an hour, but no major damage or casualties were reported.

Mild Quake Hits Himachal’s Mandi

The first tremor was recorded in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district at 9:18 am IST. The 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck at a shallow depth of 5 km, with its epicentre located at 31.49°N latitude and 76.94°E longitude, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). Local officials confirmed there was no loss of life or property.

Myanmar Experiences Strong Aftershock

Around the same time, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook central Myanmar near Meiktila, situated between the cities of Mandalay and Naypyidaw. The tremor is being treated as a significant aftershock following the catastrophic 7.7 magnitude quake on March 28, which left over 3,600 people dead. Authorities said there were no immediate reports of fresh damage or casualties from Sunday’s quake.

Twin Tremors Rock Tajikistan

Tajikistan experienced two earthquakes within less than an hour. The first, a powerful 6.1 magnitude quake, was detected at 9:54 am IST at a depth of 10 km, with coordinates 38.86°N, 70.61°E. A second tremor, measuring 3.9, struck the region again at 10:36 am IST from a similar depth. Its epicentre was located at 39.02°N, 70.40°E. Officials have yet to report any major impact from the quakes.
