Gold rates on April 7: Yellow metal falls on Trump tariff jitters; here's how much it costs in your city today

Gold prices dropped on April 7, accompanying the stock market which saw a strong crash in the morning. This comes as US President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs rattled global markets, and triggered recession worries among investors.

Gold's June contracts on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) opened at Rs 88,000 per 10 gram on April 7, lower than April 4's opening level of Rs 88,075 per 10 gram.

While gold prices saw a decline, silver continued its bull run, dodging the overall market trend. MCX Silver May futures opened at Rs 88,884 per kg on April 7, higher than April 4's opening level of Rs 87,211 per kg.

While 24-carat gold is a 100 percent pure form of gold with no trace of any other metal, the 22-carat variant has 91.67 percent pure gold along with some traces of alloyed metals like silver or copper.
