Patna: Most of north Bihar is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Thursday, with India Meteorological Department issuing a heavy rain warning for eight districts — West and East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj.
An alert for thunderstorms along with lightning was also issued for Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura and Saharsa. “Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (30-40 km per hour) are likely at one or two places in the north-central and north-eastern parts of the state,” the forecast said.
The rest of the districts might experience light to moderate showers at a few places on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Valmiki Nagar, Motihari, Patna, Arwal, Kishanganj, Vaishali, Samastipur and Buxar among other places received rainfall. On the other hand, 13 districts recorded no rainfall over the past 24 hours.
According to a bulletin issued by the weather department, the maximum temperature is expected to decline by two to three degrees Celsius over the next two days and remain unchanged thereafter in most places. However, the minimum temperature will remain unchanged over the next four to five days. The state’s highest temperature was recorded at 35.1 degrees Celsius in Sheikhpura on Wednesday.
