India nearing $450-million BrahMos deals as Indonesia pact awaits final Russian nod

India is on the brink of securing around USD 450 million worth of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile export deals, with government sources indicating that agreements with multiple friendly nations are now in their final stages and likely to be signed soon.

Almost all formalities have been completed, signalling one of India's biggest defence export pushes yet.

STRONG GLOBAL INTEREST IN BRAHMOS

A large number of countries have expressed interest in the BrahMos system after recent demonstrations of its operational performance, including during Operation Sindoor. India has been working closely with partner nations to expand its defence export footprint, with DRDO playing a central role in pushing indigenous platforms abroad. Officials said New Delhi is also exploring new markets in the Middle East and Africa for various categories of military hardware.

INDONESIA DEAL AWAITING MOSCOW'S APPROVAL

Among the major agreements in the pipeline is India's proposed deal with Indonesia for the purchase of the BrahMos missile. Defence sources told India Today that all negotiations between New Delhi and Jakarta have been completed, and the contract is ready for signing pending final approval from Russia, a required step due to the joint Indo-Russian development of the system.

Once cleared, this would mark a substantial breakthrough in India's defence export ambitions, boosting its profile as a supplier of advanced, high-precision weaponry to strategic partners.
