Students who appeared for the CBSE Class 10 second board examinations are now eagerly waiting for their results. While the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not announced an official result date, the outcome is expected to be released soon, most likely during June 2026.
Candidates will be able to access their marks online through CBSE's official result portals once the scorecards are published. The second-phase examinations were conducted between May 15 and May 21 this year.
Why Was the Second Board Exam Introduced?
Beginning with the 2026 academic session, CBSE rolled out a new assessment model for Class 10 that allows students two opportunities to take board examinations. The first examination, conducted earlier in the year, is mandatory for all students. The second exam serves as an additional chance for those looking to improve their performance or clear subjects in which they did not secure passing marks.
One of the key features of the new system is that students can retain the better score obtained between the two attempts. The board also allows candidates to appear in up to three subjects during the second examination cycle.
Education experts believe the move will help reduce the pressure associated with a single high-stakes board exam and encourage a more student-friendly evaluation process.
The second board examination witnessed participation from lakhs of students across India. Official figures indicate that approximately 6.7 lakh registrations were received for the exam cycle.
A majority of the applicants were students seeking to improve their scores, while a significant number registered under the compartment category. Some candidates also utilized the opportunity for both purposes.
The examination covered core academic subjects as well as skill-based and vocational courses, reflecting the wide scope of CBSE's curriculum.
Steps to Access the Result
After the declaration of results, students can check their marks by visiting the official CBSE websites and entering the required credentials, including their roll number and other details mentioned on the admit card.
The online marksheet available immediately after the announcement will serve as a provisional scorecard until official documents are issued.
DigiLocker Marksheets Expected
As in previous years, CBSE is likely to make digital marksheets available through DigiLocker, enabling students to securely access and store their academic records online.
To avoid last-minute inconvenience, students should keep their admit card details readily available and regularly monitor official CBSE announcements for the latest updates regarding the result declaration.
