Russia on Sunday reported a large-scale drone attack on Moscow, with state-run news agency TASS reporting damage to a facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said the attack was continuing and confirmed that a facility inside the refinery premises had been damaged. He said there were no casualties.
“The attack on Moscow by enemy drones is ongoing. A facility on the premises of the Moscow Oil Refinery has sustained damage, but no casualties were reported,” Sobyanin wrote on the Max messenger, according to TASS.
Emergency responders were sent to the refinery following the reported damage, while other teams were working at locations where debris from intercepted drones had fallen, the mayor said.
186 Drones Reportedly Intercepted Near Moscow
Russian authorities reported that a large number of drones had been shot down while approaching the capital.
TASS, citing Sobyanin, reported that the number of drones downed while heading towards Moscow had risen to 186. Emergency crews were also deployed to locations where fragments from intercepted drones had fallen, the agency reported.
No further details were immediately available on the extent of the damage at the Moscow Oil Refinery. Sobyanin’s statement also did not report any casualties at the affected facility.
Moscow Drone Attack Comes Amid Ongoing Hostilities
The reported attack comes amid continued fighting between Russia and Ukraine, with Moscow and other Russian regions repeatedly reporting drone attacks during the conflict.

The news agency also reported that technical problems affecting online voting terminals in Moscow on the first day of voting were resolved within 20 minutes.
