In the Ministry of Defence's Annual Report 2025-26, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has said it destroyed or damaged multiple F-16 fighter jets, one airborne early warning and command (AEW&C) aircraft, and multiple radar sites of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor last year.
The IAF also detailed a strike involving the S-400 air defence system that it called the longest surface-to-air kill in the world.
In response to the Pahalgam attack, carried out by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, India launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6 and 7 and struck nine terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). As Pakistan responded with strikes on Indian military as well as civilian instalments, India responded with strikes on Pakistani military facilities.
India targeted the airbases at Nur Khan, Rahimyar Khan, and Jacobabad, and struck hangars as well as airfields.
The IAF said that it struck four aircraft hangars at Jacobabad and destroyed or damaged multiple F-16s, one AEW&C aircraft, and multiple unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) of Akinci and TB-2 class. It also noted that there have been reports that Pakistani personnel at the base also suffered casualties.

Elsewhere, the IAF said that it struck and neutralised Pakistan air defence radars and command and control centres at Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Murid, Sargodha, Jacobabad, and Bholari. The Pakistan Air Force's (PAF) Air Defence Command's headquarters are located at Chaklala.
According to the IAF, six radars and two surface-to-air guided weapons locations were successfully targeted using mix of air-launched weapons as well as unmanned loitering munitions.

The IAF also said that it struck the runways at Sargodha and Rahim Yar Khan airbases. Additionally, it said that the cooling plant at Jacobabad and terminal at Rahim Yar Khan were successfully targeted.

'Longest surface-to-air kill'
The IAF said that it carried out the "longest surface-to-air kill" in the world from an S-400 battery.
According to the MoD's report, the IAF successfully targeted and destroyed a "Pakistani special mission aircraft" from a distance of 314 km — the report did not specify the type or model of the aircraft.
"With this operation, IAF rewrote the rules of air defence and belief of the enemy that distance could provide it with protection was challenged. Indian radars tracked the threat in silence and through flawless precision, the long range Surface to Air missile was guided through its far boundary. This crucial operation proved to the adversary that no point on ground or in air was beyond reach of IAF offensive elements," the report further said.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the IAF base at Adampur in Punjab where an S-400 battery is deployed. The missile system was seen in the background in photographs released by the Prime Minister's Office at the time.
