Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be in Ayodhya on Saturday to inaugurate a host of projects, will flag off two Amrit Bharat Express trains at the redeveloped Ayodhya Dham railway station.

The Prime Minister will flag off the Darbhanga-Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Express and Malda Town-Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminus (Bengaluru) Amrit Bharat Express, respectively, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The Amrit Bharat train is an LHB push-pull train with non air-conditioned coaches. It has locos at both ends for better acceleration. It provides improved facilities for rail passengers like beautiful and attractive designed seats, better luggage rack, mobile charging point with suitable mobile holder, LED lights, CCTV, public information system, among others.

Here are some of the key features of the Amrit Bharat Express, which will connect Ayodhya to Darbhanga in Bihar:

  • Push-Pull technology - Equipped with a WAP5 locomotive with 6,000 HP at each end, the train employs push-pull technology that allows for faster acceleration and deceleration, thereby reducing overall travel time.
  • Coach composition - The train comprises 22 coaches, which include eight general second-class coaches for unreserved passengers, 12 second-class 3-tier sleeper coaches and two guard compartments.
  • Comfort and amenities - Passengers can enjoy improved cushioned luggage racks, ergonomically designed seats and berths and mobile chargers with suitable holders. The train also boasts zero-discharge FRP modular toilets, aerosol-based fire suppression systems, and radium illumination flooring strips for safety and convenience.
  • Speed - With a maximum permissible speed of 130 kilometres per hour, the Amrit Bharat Express promises a swift journey between Ayodhya and Darbhanga in Bihar, and from Malda in West Bengal to Bengaluru.
  • Design and seating - The train features an eye-catching design with a colour scheme of orange and grey. It offers better seating arrangements to ensure passenger comfort during the journey.
