Mumbai Dust Storm: The Mumbai Weather took a surprising turn on May 13 as the scorching heat was replaced with heavy rainfall and winds strong enough to trigger a massive Dust Storm in Mumbai. While the change of weather was a pleasant surprise for a lot of Mumbaikars, for quite a few, it was extremely sad because of the effects it had. The strong Mumbai Winds resulted in the collapse of a billboard in Ghatkopar area of the city; at the time of the collapse, multiple people were injured and quite a few were trapped. In the latest update with respect to the Mumbai Billboard Collapse, the death toll has reached 12 and about 30 people are still trapped. A police case has also been registered...

Mumbai Billboard Collapse: Death Toll Rises To 12

As mentioned earlier, in the massive dust storm experienced by Mumbai yesterday, a billboard in Ghatkopar fell, resulting in the death of a few people, injuring many others and quite a few of them are still feared to be trapped. According to the latest NDTV Report, the death toll in the Ghatkopar Billboard Collapse has risen from 8 to 12. Over 60 people have been gravely injured in this mishap.

According to the latest media reports, there are still quite a few people, who are feared to be trapped and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are actively looking for any survivors under that billboard. Calling the rescue of people trapped a 'priority', Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said, "Rs 5 lakh will be given to the family of those who have lost their lives. I have directed the authorities concerned to check all such hoardings in Mumbai."

The hoarding or billboard that has collapsed and taken lives of multiple people, is reported to be 'illegal' and a police case has also been registered in the matter. According to Mumbai Police, a case at the Pant Nagar Police Station has been registered against accused Bhavesh Bhide and others, under sections 304, 337, 338 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC); the Mumbai Police has also started its investigation.
