Naseeruddin Shah is as candid as he’s volatile with his words that are anything but minced or restrained. If diplomacy was Shah’s neighbor, they would never see eye to eye. Back in 2010, in an interview with NewsX, Shah was speaking about actors who will be remembered for their great films and not the other way round. When asked about Amitabh Bachchan, Shah remarked, “He hasn’t made any great film, Sholay is not a great film, it’s entertaining for sure but not great.”
On Rajesh Khanna
While speaking to Hindustan Times, the Ijaazat actor had some truth bombs to drop on Hindi cinema’s first superstar. “In fact, it was the 70s when mediocrity came in Hindi films. That’s when the actor called Rajesh Khanna joined the industry. For all his success, I think Mr Khanna was a very limited actor. In fact, he was a poor actor. Intellectually, he wasn’t the most alert person I have ever met. His taste ruled the industry.”
Naseeruddin Shah, who never minces his words, has also spoken about stereotypes associated with traditional gender roles. The 73-year-old recently made an appearance at the talk show, Be A Man, Yaar!, hosted by Nikhil Taneja, co-founder and CEO of Yuvaa. Talking about masculinity, the renowned actor spoke about how men enjoy illogical masala movies purely for entertainment. While at the same time, the Dedh Ishqiya star reiterated that housewife life is even more challenging. In the latest, the celebrated actor’s comments sparked mixed reactions online.
On host Nikhil Taneja’s talk show, Naseeruddin Shah spoke about the concept of masculinity and the stereotypes associated with traditional gender roles.
