NASA has revealed new insights on planetary motion, according to the organization our home planet Earth doesn't orbit around the sun. The sun is the most massive body in our solar system and is also the centre of our solar system.
According to the new insight it is revealed that the barycenter is what is the reason for Earth not orbiting around the Sun. Barycenter refers to the centre of mass of two or more celestial bodies, such as planets or stars, that orbit around each other due to their gravitational interaction. It is the point around which these bodies orbit each other.
The latest claims reveal that the barycenter doesn't lie within the Sun both the Sun and Earth revolve around this common point. Instead, it lies slightly outside the Sun’s surface due to the gravitational pull of Earth and other planets.
Sun mass is an immense influence on the barycenter and typically remains near its centre but it is not aligning perfectly with it. Also, the other planets in our solar system which are Jupiter and Saturn, there a gravitational pull of large planets, particularly occasionally causing the barycenter to shift outside the Sun.
Therefore, Earth’s trajectory around the Sun is more precisely described as orbiting this common centre of mass rather than orbiting the Sun directly.
Newton's gravitation law explains that all bodies have gravitational force, which means both the celestial bodies Sun and Earth exert force towards each other.
The barycenter of Pluto and its moon Charon are shared. They both circle it, forming a vibrant dance in space. There is a barycenter in our solar system. Various celestial objects, including the planets and the Sun, revolve around this shared centre of mass.
