MS Dhoni enjoyed huge success as the captain of Team India and achieved a cult status. The only captain to win all three ICC white-ball trophies, Dhoni led Team India for almost a decade. The future ICC Hall of Famer made his India debut in 2004 and became the captain in 2007. Sachin Tendulkar played a key role in Dhoni's appointment as the captain.
In 2007, the BCCI offered the captaincy to Sachin but he recommended Dhoni's name. There was no looking back for Dhoni after that and he won every ICC trophy. In 2009, Dhoni-led India climbed to the top spot in the ICC Test rankings for the first time.
In 2011, Dhoni ended Sachin's 22-year wait by leading India to a title win in the World Cup. Sachin inspired more than one generation of cricketers and Sachin is among the players who grew up watching him play. But there used to be a time when Dhoni avoided spending time with Sachin.

Speaking to Jio Insider, the Master Blaster revealed that Dhoni was shy during his early days with Team India and used to change his seat. "First time I saw him was in Bangladesh. In one of the matches, he played one or two shots at the end. The kind of sound I heard from his bat, I immediately turned towards Sourav (Ganguly), sitting next to me and said: 'Dada iske balle se awaaz kuch alag aa raha hai'. (There is something different when he hits the ball)," Sachin said.
"The big hitters have this speciality and when they connect it you will think it is going to the distance but it will travel 10 yards more. I saw that quality in his batting. Few players told me, most of the time in flight his seat would be next to me but he would switch it with some other players," he added.
Sachin played under Dhoni for six years. He retired from ODI cricket in December 2012. In November 2013, Sachin played his farewell match under Dhoni's captaincy at the Wankhede Stadium. The two Indian legends never played IPL together. In the IPL 2010 final, Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings defeated Sachin's Mumbai Indians to lift the title.
