Heart conditions in young adults have become a common topic of concern. The World Health Organisation says that heart diseases are the top causes of death across the globe. Ischaemic heart disease is responsible for 13% of the world’s total deaths. While earlier, these conditions were only seen in older adults, in the recent times, there has been a rise in heart diseases among people below 40.

Not many know but cardiologists say that heart attack can be felt hours, days, and even weeks before it takes place. It gives various signs early-hand. Sometimes, a shooting pain in the arm or in jaw can be an early sign of a heart attack. A DailyMail report highlights the lesser-known early signs of heart attack that occur in young and super-fit people weeks before.

Sweating

If you are sweating more than the usual and experiencing shortness of breath suddenly, even without physical exertion, this could be a sign of an impending heart attack. Dr Deepak Bhatt while speaking to DailyMail said that waking up sweating more than usual could be a warning sign.

Neck and Shoulder Pain

This sign is very common in women as around half of them do not feel the symptom of a chest pain. According to several reports, a woman may feel persistent pain in back, neck, jaw, or sometimes even shoulder blades before or during a heart attack.

Tightness In Chest

One may feel pressure or even tightness in chest which is a different form of pain.

Shooting Pain In Arm

Many people experience a shooting pain in the arm. This is way too intense to tolerate at times. Sometimes they also feel pain in jaw as it could be a sign of an impending heart attack.

Tips To Keep Your Heart Healthy And Prevent Heart Disease

  • Lifestyle Changes: Exercise regularly, maintain a healthy weight, limit alcohol intake, Get 7-8 hours of sleep.
  • Dietary Changes: Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Incorporate lean protein (fish, poultry, legumes), choose healthy fats (nuts, olive oil) and limit saturated fats, sodium and added sugars. Also, drink plenty of water.
  • Stress Management: Practice meditation and yoga.
  • Stop Smoking: Complete cessation of smoking reduces cardiac morbidity and mortality. Vaping, a newer fad is equally harmful.
