Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad carried out a covert operation targeting the home servers of Sam Pitroda, head of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) and a close aide of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, claimed a report by Sputnik India.
According to the Sputnik India report, Mossad sought evidence of coordination between the Indian opposition and Hindenburg Research—the US firm whose January 2023 report alleged stock manipulation and accounting fraud at the Adani Group. Hindenburg Research has since shut down its operations.
Moneycontrol could not independently verify these claims.
Sources cited by Sputnik India claim that the operation “exposed encrypted chatrooms and undisclosed backchannels of communication,” revealing links “between Rahul Gandhi and the Hindenburg Research team,” with the purported aim of undermining both Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In January 2023, Hindenburg Research accused the Adani Group of artificially inflating its stock prices through complex accounting practices and a network of offshore shell companies.
The Adani Group has denied all these allegations.
