‘We will do it’: PM Modi’s clarion call to nation as he lists six goals, marking 25 years of public service

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, declaring “Hum karke rahenge” (We will do it) while outlining ambitions including an Atmanirbhar Bharat, a global manufacturing hub, hosting the Olympics and stepping into space.

Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ at the ‘Seva Jyoti’ programme in Delhi, Modi said the occasion was not merely about looking back but about renewing the country’s resolve.

“Today is not just a day for memories; it is a day to fill our resolutions with new energy. It is a day to reiterate that promise, to express that determination which says, ‘We will do it!’” he said.

Referring to his earlier call for collective effort from the Red Fort, Modi said the enthusiasm required to take India to “new heights” carried one message: “we will do it”.

He listed the goals that, according to him, reflected this confidence: “Top 3 economy, Viksit Bharat by 2047, we will do it! Aatmanirbhar bharat! Global Manufacturing hub! Hosting of the Olympics! Stepping into Space!”

The remarks came as Modi marked 25 years in public service since October 7, 2001, when he took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He said he had not imagined reaching the milestone when he first assumed office.

“When I took the oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, I never thought that I would ever reach this milestone,” Modi said.

He described the completion of 25 years as the outcome of sustained public support. “Today, I have completed 25 years of continuous service. This is the result of the people’s constant blessings and support,” he said.

Modi also linked his political journey to successive electoral mandates, saying people had chosen him to serve them in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. “During this period, whether it was Assembly elections or Lok Sabha elections, the people chose me to serve them. Today, I pay tribute to the democracy and Constitution of India,” he said.

Expressing gratitude to citizens, he added, “I bow my head before the people of the country and pay my respects to them.”

He said the milestone was not about personal ambition but about service and duty, reiterating that his life had been dedicated to a mission
