'No Idea About Their US Stay': Families Of Deported Gujaratis In Shock Amid Trump's Border Crackdown

Upon learning about their undocumented status in America, their families expressed shock and some even said that they were not even aware about their stay in the US. Given that the market had already priced in a rate cut from the Indian central bank, the RBI outcome failed to spark strong gains for the benchmarks-- the Sensex and Nifty. Rate-sensitive sectors like banking, automobiles, real estate and consumer durables also witnessed similar activity, with positive knee-jerk reactions to the rate cut fizzling out quickly.   Voltas shares drop over 3% as Qatar court orders ₹402 crore payout in legal battle Tata Group’s  Voltas Ltd  shares declined over 3% on Thursday after the company suffered a setback in a legal battle in Qatar. The company has been directed to pay QAR 167.720 million (approximately ₹402 crore) in a case involving the joint venture of OHL International, Spain, and Contrack (Cyprus) Ltd. Shares of Voltas Ltd fell 3.3% to an intraday low of ₹1,348 apiece on the BSE. The legal dispute stems from a subcontract agreement between Voltas and the OHL&C consortium, under which Voltas had filed a case against the joint venture—termed ‘OHLC JV’—at the Investment and Trade Court in Doha, Qatar, on August 14, 2023. The company sought to recover QAR 771.632 million (₹1,754.69 crore) for completed work, project variations, and delays. While pronouncing the order, Justice M Nagaprasanna said, “The material on record does not indicate that investigation conducted by Lokayukta is partisan or lood sidedoor shoddy for this court to refer the matter to CBI for further investigation or reinvestigation. India Today TV conducted an on-ground investigation about the cancelled hotel bookings in Prayagraj, with 40-60 per cent of pilgrims cancelling their visits. Harjinder Singh, the president of the Prayagraj Hotel and Restaurant Welfare Association, noted that cancellations ranged from 40 per cent to 60 per cent between January 29 and February 4, and 30-35 per cent on average from February 5 to 26.
