A complaint has been filed by Rajneesh Singh, a BJP spokesperson from Ayodhya, with the I&B Ministry to ban the upcoming film. He claimed that The Taj Story is based on the subject of a petition he filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court in May 2022. In his petition, Rajneesh sought the opening of 22 locked rooms inside the Taj Mahal, saying the monument was originally a temple. He also requested a committee with members from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to study the 17th-century structure and provide a clear answer. However, the high court dismissed his petition in May 2022.
