Nyoma air base near LAC in Ladakh operationalised, Air Chief makes inaugural landing

  Nyoma Air Base NEW DELHI: The operational Capability of the Indian Military got augmented on Wednesday as the Indian Air Force chief ACM AP Singh made inaugural landing onboard transport aircraft C-130J at strategic Mudh Nyoma air base, near the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh. The operationalisation of the Nyoma Airbase in Eastern Ladakh will provide capability to the Air Force to mobilise fighter jets, helicopters and transport planes. As first reported by  TNIE  in August, the concrete airstrip was complete last year with finishing touches being given. The other infrastructure at the airbase was completed in October this year. The location of Nyoma Airbase gives it strategic significance. It is located at 13,700 feet above mean sea level, is around 30 km inside the LAC thus allowing rapid deployment and mobilisation of troops and military equipment in the region.   Gujarat explosion: At least 2 killed, 20 injured at pharmaceutical factory fire in Bharuch NEW DELHI: At least two workers were killed and 20 injured at an explosion at pharmaceutical factory in Gujarat's Bharuch district on Wednesday, PTI reported citing officials. "A powerful boiler explosion inside the factory triggered a massive fire," PTI quoted Bharuch district collector Gaurang Makwana saying. "The intensity of the blast was so severe that the factory structure collapsed. While the majority of workers managed to escape, two of them got trapped and died. Their bodies were recovered from the rubble after the fire was doused. Nearly 20 workers escaped with minor injuries in the incident," he added. According to the official, the incident occurred at around 2.30am at a factory in the Saykha GIDC area. Fire brigade, police, and forensic teams are inspecting the site after reports that a worker may be missing following the explosion.

According to the reports, Dr Mir, a suspect and cardiologist, was detained for questioning on Thursday. Dr Mir had reportedly been in contact with Dr Shaheen Shahid and other suspects named in the blast. It is reported that he had also visited Dr Shaheen in Kanpur a few days before the blast. Arif is reportedly from the Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag and pursued his education at Al Falah University in Faridabad. He joined GSVM Medical College in Kanpur Five months ago. During a raid by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) on Dr Parvez’s Muttakipur residence under the Madiaon police station limits in the state capital, police investigators found the Alto parked outside the house. The presence of the vehicle raised suspicion about its possible use in the terror network after which the police seized the car and placed it on the local Madiaon police station premises. Upon verification, the car was found to have been initially registered in the name of Mohd Shoaib, resident of Chakdewli village in Saharanpur.
