Why the Gita Says Even Your Biggest Mistakes Take You Where You’re Meant to Be

We all have that moment. The one where you pause mid-life and think, Oh no… I’ve messed this up. The wrong course in college. The wrong job. The wrong relationship that lasted three years longer than it should have. And then the bigger question creeps in, what if my entire path is wrong? The Bhagavad Gita, that ancient conversation between a warrior and God, has a strangely modern answer. It says: maybe your path only feels wrong because you’re standing in the middle of it, not the end. When the Scene Feels Wrong Chaos now may later reveal growth and transformation. On the battlefield of Kurukshetra, Arjuna freezes. He’s supposed to fight, but everything feels… off. His heart says stop, his duty says go, and he’s caught between the two like a badly written love triangle. Krishna’s advice? “Do your work. Do it fully. Stop obsessing over the result.” It sounds simple, almost too simple. But it’s a reminder that your judgment of “right” or “wrong” is often made before the story is d...

No More Pujas, No More Aartis—Would Hinduism Still Be Hinduism?

न कर्मणा न प्रजया धनेन त्यागेनैके अमृतत्वमानशुः। (Not by rituals, nor by progeny, nor by wealth, but by renunciation alone one attains immortality –  Mundaka Upanishad 3.2.3 ) Hinduism is often seen as a religion of grand rituals— pujas ,  yajñas ,  aartis , and intricate temple ceremonies. From birth to death, every stage of life is marked by sacred observances. But at its philosophical core, Hinduism is not just about external practices; it is a pursuit of self-realization, as the  Upanishads  and  Bhagavad Gita  repeatedly emphasize. This brings us to a fundamental question—can Hinduism exist without its rituals? If spirituality is an inward journey, are traditional customs necessary, or are they merely cultural embellishments? Can a Hindu be deeply spiritual without performing rituals? Or would the absence of rituals lead to the dilution of one of the world’s oldest traditions? Let’s explore this intricate relationship between rituals and sp...

'Obstacles to free trade': German deputy envoy backs India on Trump tariffs; calls for slashing duties to minimum NEW DELHI: Germany's deputy envoy Georg Enzweiler on Tuesday termed US imposition of tariffs on different countries as an "obstacles to free trade." While talking to the media, the deputy head of mission, German Embassy in India said that the countries should always be in favour of reducing tariffs to the minimum level. "Tariffs are obstacles to free trade," Enzeiler said. "We would always be in favour of reducing tariffs to the minimum level," he added. Issued by the department of homeland security, the notice said that the tariffs were imposed in response to "threats to the United States by the government of Russian Federation," with India being targeted for new duties as part of the policy. "The duties set out in the Annex to this document are effective with respect to products of India that are entered for consu...

Trump’s 50% tariff shock hits India: New Delhi faces one of its toughest trade blows in years

Trump’s 50% tariff shock hits India: New Delhi faces one of its toughest trade blows in years Indian exporters are facing one of the toughest trade shocks in years as the United States on Wednesday officially imposed an additional 25% tariff on key goods from India, adding to an existing 25% duty and bringing the total US levy to 50%. The tariffs apply to products “entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 am EDT on August 27, 2025” (9:31 am IST), according to the Department of Homeland Security. The move is linked to India’s continued purchases of Russian oil and defence equipment. White House trade adviser Peter Navarro and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent have accused India of indirectly funding Russia’s war in Ukraine through its oil imports. Bessent noted earlier this month that India now sources 42% of its oil from Russia, up from under 1% before the conflict. “The government has no hope for any immediate relief or delay in U...
